China or Bust – Departure Day

We’re off! We spent our last night in Germany dining at our favorite haunt for the last 6 years – Giuseppe’s Restaurant in Plieningen. We want to thank Nautilus and Tevia (Co-worker) and Dale (ex co-worker) for coming by to see us off!!

Giuseppe and his son Nico surprised us with a “Bon Voyage” present of a bottle of Limoncella. Not having any room on the bike to pack a glass bottle, I improvised and transferred it to one of the water bottles we’re taking with us.

This morning we took one more stroll around Plieningen before setting off around 10 a.m.

…. but not before a pre-trip selfie.

The weather was perfect with no rain and our 300-mile ride on Day 1 was uneventful (except for the loss of our tankbag rain cover that fell off en-route (some knucklehead (me) didn’t secure it properly). I think I can pickup a replacement when we pass through Vienna on Monday.

Here’s the bike packed up in all it’s glory (including our FLORIDA License Plate) during one of our rest stops.

Since the last few weeks have been busy with moving house we’re taking a few days to rest up in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic before continuing on Monday to (haven’t decided yet).

  1. You guys are awesome!!! I am blessed to have been able to know you both. You will do great things. Beth and I are looking forward to watching you finish this great journey!!!!

  2. Where does Geri sit? Smart move with the lemoncello! You must have adequate provisions! Thanks for taking us along via blogs and fb. It’s going to be a great ride!!

  3. Have a great trip. We looked for you on the autobahn but didn’t see you……. But in reality, we are within 5-10 km of each other when we received you spot notification. Cheers – Rob
